The founders of Carr Scott Software Incorporated, Dr. Richard Carr and Harry Scott, have a total of more than 30 years experience in both the internal workings of NonStop
server products and the customers who use them.
Dr. Richard W. Carr: Co-founder & Director of R&D
Dr. Carr is an expert in HP NonStop Kernel (NSK) systems, having designed and implemented many features of the Guardian kernel, file system, and database systems, as well as numerous other NSK products.
In November of 1995, Dr. Carr co-founded Carr Scott Software Inc. He conceived, designed and implemented Escort SQL(TM). His work enables migration of NonStop
server Enscribe applications and databases to NonStop SQL, without having to reprogram the applications. Prior to forming Carr Scott Software, Dr. Carr was employed by Tandem Computers, Inc. for almost 15 years where he was a corporate Technical Director and manager of performance research in Tandem Labs (Tandem's advanced research organization).
At Tandem, Dr. Carr designed and implemented many products, including the NSK memory manager, parallel processor load, Global Update Protocol, expedited message system, DSAP/DCOM database management facilities, Enform Optimizer, Examiner performance analyzer, subsystem programmable interface (SPI), and RDF TM/MP (aka Turbo RDF).
Dr. Carr received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford in 1981 and a bachelor of arts in Mathematics from Georgetown University in 1968.
Harry P Scott: Co-founder & Director of Sales
Mr. Scott co-founded Carr Scott Software with Dr. Richard Carr in 1995. Mr. Scott is responsible for business management and sales for Carr Scott Software.
Prior to forming Carr Scott Software, Mr. Scott was employed by Tandem Computers, Inc. for 12.5 years (i.e. as Mr. Scott says "50 sales quarters"). During his tenure at Tandem, Mr. Scott held various support, sales and general management positions.
During his years of sales and sales management positions, Mr. Scott exceed his sales quota and qualified for Tandem's "First Cabin Club" every year. Mr. Scott was also appointed to Tandem's prestigious President's Council for two consecutive years.
Mr. Scott received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Massasoit College.
